چکیده

Cardiology, Hofstra North Shore-LIJ School of Medicine, Manhasset, NY, USA Full list of author information is available at the end of the article Figure 1 A1. A DIR TSE image demonstrates fat in the atrioventricular groove as well as a non-fat-based mass at the mitral annulus. A2. The corresponding T1 map shows a mass with a relatively low T1 value (417 ms) consistent with mitral annular calcification. B1. A DIR TSE SPAIR image demonstrates a catheter-related thrombus in the right atrium. B2. The T1 map shows a mass with an intermediate T1 time (1114 ms). C1. An SSFP image in a patient with metastatic melanoma demonstrates a region of bright signal intensity in the anterior myocardial segment. C2. The relatively low T1 values (~700 ms) of the melanin-rich metastatic foci on the corresponding T1 map facilitate identification of myocardium studded with tumor. Saba et al. Characterization of a calcified intra-cardiac pseudocyst of the mitral valve by magnetic resonance imaging including T1 and T2 mapping

BACKGROUND Even though intra-cardiac cystic lesions are extremely unusual in adults, they should be considered in the differential diagnosis of patients presenting with valvular masses. Cardiac magnetic resonance imaging has emerged as modality of choice for non-invasive characterization of cardiac masses. CASE PRESENTATION We report a case of an intra-cardiac mass of the mitral valve in a 51...

Myocardial T1 mapping as a diagnostic tool in pediatric patients with a concern for cardiac disease

Background Myocardial tissue characterization with both native T1 mapping and T1 mapping following gadolinium based contrast agents (T1 enhanced) has emerged as an important asset of CMR imaging [1]. However, there is only minimal experience in pediatrics [2]. Native T1 has shown to be a marker of myocardial edema, and may play a role in pathologic states such as myocarditis [3]. T1 enhanced ma...

Cardiac extracellular volume quantified with T1 mapping techniques reflects degree of cardiac and neurological involvement in Hereditary Transthyretin Amyloidosis

Background Amyloidotic cardiomyopathy (AC) in Hereditary Transthyretin Amyloidosis (ATTR) determines prognosis and treatment options. Cardiac Magnetic Resonance (CMR) has shown its utility in the diagnosis and characterization of AC. Moreover, CMR T1 mapping techniques are useful to assess myocardial extracellular volume (ECV) fraction in AC. We hypothesized that ECV allows identification of AC...

I-41: Imaging Strategy for Diagnosis of Adnexal Masses Including US,CT Scan and MRI

Adnexal masses are spectrum of diseases from benign non neoplastic and neoplastic masses to malignant neoplasms. Endovaginal ultrasonography (US) is the fisrt and invaluable modality for assessment of adnexal masses because it is available and has a high negative predictive value. Important morphologic features are solid (vascularized) tissue, vascular and thick septations, and papillary projec...

Advanced Cardiac MR Imaging for Myocardial Characterization and Quantification: T1 Mapping

Magnetic resonance as an imaging modality provides an excellent soft tissue differentiation, which is an ideal choice for cardiac imaging. Cardiac magnetic resonance (CMR) allows myocardial tissue characterization, as well as comprehensive evaluation of the structures. Although late gadolinium enhancement after injection of the gadolinium extracellular contrast agent has further extended our ab...
